How Does Kofax Concurrent Licensing Work?
The Kofax Capture licensing model is concurrent based. What this means to you is that you can install the software onto as many computers as you like but only the first "x" number of users,
where "x" equals your number of concurrent licenses, will be able to access the program at one time. Once the maximum number of concurrent licenses is used, any additional attempts to login are denied with a message that there are insufficient licenses available. Once a user logs out that license becomes available to another user.
In a KCNS (Kofax Capture Network Server) environment concurrent license(s) are assigned to a remote site profile and are no longer available for use at the central site even if no one at the remote site is using the system. The concurrent model is used at the remote site also allowing multiple users, up to the assigned number of licenses allocated to the site, to login at once.
If you find you are consistently running out of available licenses and this is causing delays in processing you can easily add on more concurrent licenses. However, if and when, this happens you may want to consider re-evaluating your capture process. You may find you would be better served investing in an advanced capture product like KTM (Kofax Transformation Modules).
